Which perspective on personalities makes the most sense?

It would have to be Sigmund Freud's perspective. His idea on the 3 parts of the mind, the id (responsible for our desires) aka the unconscious mind, superego which restricts our desires based on social norms and the ego which weighs all 3 psychic instances and chooses the best option.

I feel that this way of thinking of our brain is very logical as there are times when I am debating with myself on certain issues. This would seem to be the 3 instances working together to come up with the best solution for me.

However, his perspective also gives us one problem. If the id is the unconscious part of the mind, then how do we know about it, unless it is a guess. Which also means that we cannot prove that Freud's perspective is really true, as there are no ways to definitively say it exists. So, while it may make sense to apply Freud's thinking, there may actually be other reasons behind the way we think.
